gz

A single GZ file of 55 bytes. Gzip compresses one file and nothing else: there is no folder structure and no list of entries, so the result is a different kind of object from a zip. That is the point of this test file. Some code assumes any archive contains several files and breaks when it finds one stream. Use it to check how your app handles a gzip on its own, whether it removes the .gz suffix when unpacking, and whether it confuses a plain .gz with a .tar.gz. It is the smallest archive in the set.
